Grief

Grief is a natural response to loss, the loss of someone or something where a significant attachment has been formed. There can be many emotions associated with grief such as shock, anger, guilt, and deep sadness. Grief is a process and takes time to work through and experience. There is no proper way to grieve. There are many similarities between the symptoms of depression and grief however, the symptoms of grief lessen over time where depression symptoms will not.

When supporting someone through grief it is important to respect the time, they need to process the loss and whatever level of emotion they feel about their loss. Offering people practical assistance to help with chores and being a good listener are both good ways to support people through their grieving process.
